John Newman - Tribute

이 곡을 들으려면 아무 생각없이 90 초를 버티거나 스크롤 

바를 정확히 1눈 30초지난 지점을 클릭하여 듣거나.. 그 이

유는 제목인 Tribute 자체기 때문이다. 시상식도 아니고 상

업적 앨범에 이런 행동을 한다는 것이 어찌보면 이해가 안

되기도 한다. 그 음악의 후크를  노래 초반 10초에 쏟아 부

어 사람들의 관심을 사로잡는 최근 팝 음악의 전략과는 완

전 180도 다른 접근 방법이다. 하지만 그는 제사를 지내는

제사장처럼 성스럽게 그의 첫번째 솔로 앨범의 첫번째 노래

에 지금까지 자신이 뮤지션이 되는 것에 영향을 주었던 모

든 뮤지션들을 언급한다. 그에게 영향을 준 모든 음악가의

이름을 말하는 중간 중간 중간 여성이 카운트하듯 1960년

부터 2010년까지 10년단위로 카운트하고 그리고  Now라고 

말하며 John Newman의 음악이 시작된다. 그가 언급하는 

뮤지션들은 그의 나이 또래가 듣는 음악을 뛰어넘어 있다. 

그래서인지 그의 목소리는 마치 타임머신을 타고 시대를 거

슬러 온듯 오래전 발성법같다고 할까.. 비교할 만한 목소리

가 없는 John Newman 그만의 목소리는 그냥 그의 목소리

같다 라고 정의 해야할 것같다

그의 Tribute를 전부 딕테이션을 해볼까도 생각해 보았는데

내가 무슨 영화를 누리겠다고.. 나도 포스팅을 마치면 아마

1분 30초 지난 지점부터 노래를 들을 께 틀림없는데 말이다

그냥 대충 아는 뮤지션은 들리고 모르는 뮤지션은 안들린다

그리고 그도 그걸 노린건지 목소리를 작게 조정해서 마치

오락게임 인트로 느낌도 살짝 느껴진다.. 그래도 이 세상 누

군가는 그의 인트로를 딕테이션하는 사람 한사람은 있을 것

같은데...
